Hello everyone! This post is the result of another great collaboration with Uniqso as always I'd like to remind you that I have a promotional code: use "maki" to receive a discount on your orders! Anyway, today I'll show you how to straighten a synthetic wig! Follow the link for more information, tips and tricks & tutorials on synthetic wigs on Uniqso official blog~

This is the wig I chose for the tutorial

METHOD 1: Flat iron
Difficulty:
Time: ⭐⭐
Wig quality required: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of the easiest way to straighten a wig is to use, of course, a flat iron... Just as you'd do with your own hair! But there are some differences:

Depending on the wig quality, you have to decide a proper temperature to avoid any accident (melting/ruining fibers). 130°/160° is ok for a good quality wig. In this case I set my iron on 160°.
Before to use the hair straightener it's important to loosen curls by brushing your wig. You'll have a better control on every lock and surely a better result.
●  Straighten every lock of hair in one move. If you stop for a while, you risk to create undesired folds.
See? The wig gained a lot of volume and we're now able to straighten perfectly eeeeevery fiber! Yay! (。´∀`)ノ It's time to start the real job

To obtain a perfect result, don't be hasty: straighten a small amount of fibers at a time, you can take the picture below as reference. The result is great, don't you agree?
This method is without doubt the easiest and the fastest way to straighten a wig, but if you're not sure about the quality of your product, or you don't own a flat iron, there's still another way! Don't worry and keep reading! (•̀ ᴗ •́)و ̑̑

METHOD 2: Hot water
Difficulty:
Time: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wig quality required: ⭐⭐⭐

Another way to straighten a wig is to use hot water
Put your wig on a stable support and boil some water. Basically, what we'll do is to pour it... So you have to do it in your shower or tub, for sure!
Step one is the same for both ways so... Brush that wig
Step two is the "boil and pour": we have to boil 2/3 liters at a time and then spill slowly the water on our wig, starting from the top to the end.
Here some advices:
Don't lay your wig, we want it to be vertical because it'll be easier to straighten it due to the weight of the water.
According to your wig lenght, you have to boil several liters. If your wig is long (such as this red beauty) you'll have to repeat the process at least three/four times.
When you're satisfied with the result, so your wig perfectly straight, don't wring it out. The weight of the water helps us because it keeps the wig "posed" and, consequently, straaaaight!
Let it dry naturally and then brush your new smooth and straight wig!

Aaaand... The result! (ᅌᴗᅌ* )
That's all! I hope you liked my little tutorial, if you try one of these two methods, I'd be super happy to see the results! You can send me a message on Facebook, if you want! u.u My next tutorial will be about curling a wig, stay tuned!
